|
|
From the main Railwaystation in Copenhagen you walk to the Town Hall square(radhuspladsen in danish). When youve been walking from Copenhagen main Railwaystation you gonna see the street Stoeget right across the Square in front of The big Town Hall.
On this picture youve got Railway to the right and Stroeget to the left.
This is the entrance of Stroeget and you are looking to the left.
Along the street youll see all sort of people, stands with different candy, souvenirs and food. This is kind of strange statue in the middle of Stroeget.
He succeded in frighten a lot of people walking by and it looked like he had a lot of fun scaring people.
The police on stroeget is mostly these mounted police on beatiful horses. The horses look like they like people. The police had to stop some from feeding them with sweet almonds and that kind of stuff. Very popular horses among the kids.
Another place worth a visit is Guiness world of records museum on Oestergade 16. On the outside there is a statue of Robert Wadlow in real size. 2.72 m. Inside you could try driving a Dragster to 508 km/h in 6 seconds, a horror house and most of the persons and records in the book.
When youve been walking for half an hour you reach Nyhavn. Nyhavn is a part of Copenhagen built by Swedish prisoners int the 17:th century. It has an old history of prostitution, drunk sailors and artists. Like the famous painter H.G.F. Holm, HC Andersen and other artists used to visit the tea shop on Store Strandgade. The tea shop is now restaurant Els They still got a lot of paintings from H.G.F. Holm on the walls.
Along the quay on north side in Nyhavn youve got a lot of restaurants with beef, heerings, snaps, wine and beers for an affordable price. Youll get a good lunch here for about 20€ and a pint for maybe 3.
In the channel you choose from 2 different companies that guide you round Copenhagen harbour in four different languages in a one hour trip for 10€. In the channel you also find old fishing boats that where used during last century for getting lobsters, herring and crabs.
You still find some old red district bars in Nyhavn but just for keeping the tradition. You do not see many of these now a days in Nyhavn.
Close to Nyhavn you got the Amber museum or the house of Amber. Amber is the first gem found in Denmark and where very popular amongst the greeks because it had an ability in making electricity. The greeks called it electron and by that way founded the word for electricity as we see it today. On the picture you see Trine that love to tell you about the Amber. Different ways of using it in jewellery and how it got made from old pine trees more then 30 million years ago. You find the Amber Museum on Kongens Nytorv 2.
Between Nyhavn and Main Railwaystation you find Tivoli with a lot of other places to get a meal.
One exciting place could be wagamama you find just outside Tivoli on Tietgensgade 20.
Jette tells us that this is an Asian restaurant with mostly Japanese food where you get a good meal from 3€ to a whole dinner from 10€ and a pint for maybe 3.
In the station you also got different kind of restaurants and pubs like O´Learys where you are able to get fish and chips for about 15€ and,m if you visit the place between 16-18 on friday, you get 2 beers for the price of one. I Promise you get full satisfied if you get this meal down.
Copenhagen is definitely worth a visit. For more information about this wonderful town please check aok.dk _________________ http://www.citygbg.se -The place you where looking for. Touristinformation about Gothenburg sweden.

|
|
All of Stroeget is now decorated with all kind of christmas decorations.
On Højbro Plads(Hoejbro square) youve got a little christmas market with all kinds of cheese, salami, warm clothes and sweets.
Højbro Plads is a relative new square built after the great fire in 1795 to make a firewall so the residents had an option to stop the fire before it reaches the rest of the town. Most houses where made of wood in older ages and therefore where very easy to catch fire.
On the square youve got a statue of the bishop Absalon who many thinks founded Copenhagen during the 12:th century. Tha square got its name from the Højbro(high-bridge) bridge that Absalon had to build before building his castle on slotsholmen(castle islet).
You can read more about this place on aok.dk
Youll find Højbro Plads on google maps>>>
Upon Bishop Absalons castle you currently got Christiansborg slot(Christiansfort castle) and in the castle you are able to see what archeologists found beneath the castle from the 12:th century.
You also find christmas market in Nyhavn.
Here you find more of small things to decorate your home but also different kinds of food. Everywhere the restaurants, pubs and cafees are advertising about "julefrokost" that means christmas lunch. This is often a kind of feast on all companies in Denmark and are known for getting all members drunk or having an affair with the collegues.
Take a good jackets, a good pair of boots on your feet, a hat on the head and visit Copenhagen before christmas. Youll get a lot of good ideas for christmas gifts.
I wish you all a happy Christmas and new year. _________________ http://www.citygbg.se -The place you where looking for. Touristinformation about Gothenburg sweden.

|
|
Ive got questions about finding a supermarket where you are able to get food for making your own dinner and recommend finding Rema1000 on Hammerichsgade 1 just 500 meters from the central train station in Copenhagen. Here you are able to buy bread, meat, fish, beers, cheese and soda much cheaper then in restaurants. Enjoy your visit. _________________ http://www.citygbg.se -The place you where looking for. |
|
If you turn left at Hojbroplads instead of following stroeget to Nyhavn
youll gonna follow Kobmagergade to Runde Tarn(round tower) who is a tower built in 1642. The tower is an integration in the Trinitus church(also called student church) and was ordered by King Christian IV in 1635. One of the kings astronoms, professor Christian Longomontanus, also wanted a new observatory that looked like Tycho Brahes on the island Ven. The King agreed and ordered an observatory on the top of the tower. However, he had problems getting good bricks and stones to the building so the king gave order to farmers in Northern Sjaelland to deliver stones down to Copenhagen with the danish armys wagons. He had already taken stones from the walls round copenhagen but needed more. He also got problems getting bricks that where of good quality in Denmark so he had to buy thousand of bricks from Holland. He also got to use a dutch mason to get the building in order. These expenditure nearly ruined his bank so he had to steal money from the churches in Norway plus other danish territories so he could afford finishing his work.
The floor from bottom to top is leaning all the way so the king could get up in his wagon. Today there is unicycle-races from bottom to the top. Earlier in 1890:s there was some competitions with the old velicoped to the top. In the seventies the danish riders Ole Ritter and Leif Mortensen tried to get the best time going up to the top and down again without touching the ground with feet. The record where broken by Ole Ritter who managed this track on 55 seconds.
On the top you got a good vies out over Copenhagen. Here you see Malmoe, Kastrup airport and the oresunds-bridge.
The observatory on the top is opened for visitors every tuesday and wednesday evening.
When youve been walking up and down the tower you need to take a real danish sandwich for an affordable price.
On Klareboderne 6 youve got a wonderful little sandwich-shop where you are able to get delicious good looking sandwiches from 2$. These on the picture is some more expensive but tastes good and make you satisfied.
Youll be hungry after looking on all these sandwiches. And I recommend a visit. This place is used by a lot of students because the prices are low but eventhough they got good food.
I tried a luxus with plaice, spawn, shrimps and salat and payed about 5$ for this and a cup of coffe.
Se more about Rundetarn on rundetaarn.dk and Klarebodernes sandwiches on klarebodernes.dk _________________ http://www.citygbg.se -The place you where looking for. Touristinformation about Gothenburg sweden.
